here's something i wrote:
Bleached by neon we lay on the rooftop, dotted nobodies silhouetted against a cityscape built only for us. The sirens scream our names down dog-shit alleys and the sprawling metropolis swallows us whole, spitting us back out again into the gutters where we shine brighter than Saturday night's smashed bottles and stale vomit.
Concrete pushes up underneath our backs, bruising our shoulder blades under cheap customised t-shirts. You exhale your smoke up to the murky sewage-coloured sky. It never really gets dark here, there’s too much light pollution. If this were a drug I'd mainline it to feel it coasting through my veins. We slip through the city's arteries infecting it with our disease. Love is a universal epidemic. Under nuclear skies we kiss, I'll taste the rum on your tongue and as all the stars explode I know I'm both above all this mess and a part of it.
